Description

This Lazy Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese combines the deliciousness of crispy breaded chicken, melty provolone, and a rich marinara sauce—all tucked between slices of buttery, toasted Italian bread. It’s a quick, easy, and satisfying twist on classic chicken parmesan that takes comfort food to a whole new level of delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 frozen breaded chicken patties (such as Tyson®)

  • 2 tbsp garlic butter, or to taste

  • 4 slices Italian bread

  • 1 cup marinara sauce

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil, or to taste

  • 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste

  • 6 thin slices provolone cheese

  • 2 tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook the Chicken Patties
Cook the frozen chicken patties according to package instructions, typically baking or frying until crispy and golden brown. Set aside.

  • Prepare the Bread
Spread garlic butter on one side of each slice of Italian bread.

  • Assemble the Sandwich
Place one slice of provolone cheese on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread. Add one cooked chicken patty on top, then pour marinara sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle with basil and garlic salt to taste. Add another slice of provolone cheese and top with the second slice of bread (garlic butter side facing out).

  • Grill the Sandwich
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

  • Serve
Once both sides are toasted and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Sprinkle the top with shredded Parmesan cheese and serve hot.

Notes

Make It Spicy: Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce for an extra kick.

Add Veggies: Consider adding a layer of spinach or arugula for a fresh twist.

Substitute Cheese: If you prefer a different cheese, mozzarella or cheddar can also work well.
