Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground meat (chicken, turkey, or pork)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 medium carrots, shredded
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Optional: sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
-
Cook the Ground Meat:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
-
Sauté the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté for about 2 minutes, or until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
-
Add the Cabbage and Carrots:
- Stir in the thinly sliced cabbage and shredded carrots. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
-
Combine the Ingredients:
- Add the cooked ground meat back into the skillet with the vegetables.
- Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
-
Serve:
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Ground Meat Options: Feel free to use ground chicken, turkey, or pork, depending on your preference or what you have on hand.
- Make it Spicy: If you enjoy spice, you can add more crushed red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce to heat it up.
- Low-Carb Option: For a low-carb version, you can substitute the soy sauce with coconut aminos and skip the rice vinegar.
- Serving Suggestions: This dish is great on its own, but you can serve it over cauliflower rice or regular rice for a heartier meal.
