For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup water, divided
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
For the Stir Fry:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions for the Teriyaki Sauce:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar.
- Stir to combine and bring to a low boil.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk 1/4 cup water and cornstarch together until dissolved.
- Slowly stir in the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan and allow it to thicken.
- Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest. Set aside.
Instructions for the Stir Fry:
- Add sesame oil to a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened.
- Add ground turkey and cook for 7-10 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks, until fully cooked through.
- Add broccoli florets and shredded carrots, cooking for another 3-5 minutes until heated through and tender.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the prepared teriyaki sauce.
- Let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the sauce to coat the turkey and vegetables.
- Serve the stir fry over rice or as desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken, pork, or beef (if using beef, be sure to drain excess grease).
- For extra spice, add cayenne pepper flakes or sriracha.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like snow peas, bell peppers, or baby corn.
- If the teriyaki sauce is too thick, add a little water to thin it out.
- For extra saucy stir fry, double the teriyaki sauce recipe.
