  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening the sauce)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.

    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked and golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  2. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

    • Stir in the honey and soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.

    • If using ginger, add it to the sauce and stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 3-4 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. Thicken the Sauce (Optional):

    • If you prefer a thicker sauce, dissolve the cornstarch in a tablespoon of cold water and stir it into the sauce. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. Combine the Chicken with the Sauce:

    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the chicken, and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes to coat the chicken in the sauce.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve the honey garlic chicken over rice or with your favorite side dishes. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a bit of spice.

  • If you prefer, you can substitute the chicken thighs with chicken breasts for a leaner option.
