Description
This No Knead Artisan Bread is the ultimate solution for beginners and busy bakers alike. With minimal effort and simple ingredients, you can enjoy a freshly baked, crusty, and flavorful artisan loaf in just a few hours. The bread is beautifully rustic, with a chewy interior and a crispy golden crust—perfect for sandwiches, dipping in soups, or enjoying with a pat of butter.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
- 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
Instructions
-
Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sea salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms. The dough will be sticky, but that’s perfectly fine.
-
Let the Dough Rise: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let the dough rise at room temperature for about 12-18 hours. The dough should double in size and be full of bubbles.
-
Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a well-floured surface. Gently fold the dough a few times to shape it into a round loaf. Be careful not to deflate it too much.
-
Preheat the Oven: While the dough is resting, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven or a heavy pot with a lid in the oven to heat up as well.
-
Bake the Bread: Once the oven and pot are preheated, carefully remove the hot pot from the oven. Place the dough into the pot and cover it with the lid. Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Enjoy your homemade artisan bread with butter, jams, or your favorite spread!
Notes
- This bread does not require kneading, but it does need plenty of time to rise. Plan ahead and let it rest overnight for the best flavor and texture.
- If you don’t have a Dutch oven, you can use a heavy, oven-safe pot with a lid or a covered baking dish.
- If you prefer a thicker crust, you can spray the bread with water during the first few minutes of baking.
