These banana brownies combine the rich, fudgy texture of brownies with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas. Topped with a smooth, glossy chocolate glaze, they make for the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  • To make the chocolate glaze: In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  • Once the brownies are cooled, pour the chocolate glaze over them, spreading evenly with a spatula.
  • Allow the glaze to set before cutting the brownies into squares and serving.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use plant-based butter and chocolate chips.
  • If you prefer, you can omit the walnuts or substitute with another type of nut or even chocolate chips.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence.
