These banana brownies combine the rich, fudgy texture of brownies with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas. Topped with a smooth, glossy chocolate glaze, they make for the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth.

- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
For the Chocolate Glaze:
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 3 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack.
- To make the chocolate glaze: In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Once the brownies are cooled, pour the chocolate glaze over them, spreading evenly with a spatula.
- Allow the glaze to set before cutting the brownies into squares and serving.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, use plant-based butter and chocolate chips.
- If you prefer, you can omit the walnuts or substitute with another type of nut or even chocolate chips.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence.
