Description
These Velvety Caramel Flan Muffins offer a creamy, caramel-infused delight in every bite. The perfect fusion of rich flan and soft muffin texture, they’re a treat for any dessert lover looking for a sweet twist.
Ingredients
-
1 cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)
-
4 large eggs
-
2 cups whole milk
-
1 cup sweetened condensed milk (for extra creaminess)
-
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (for that lovely aromatic flavor)
-
1/4 teaspoon salt (to balance the sweetness)
Instructions
-
Caramelize the sugar: In a medium pan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into muffin tin cups and let it cool slightly.
-
Prepare the custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and well combined.
-
Pour the custard over the caramel: Carefully pour the custard mixture into the muffin cups, over the caramel.
-
Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the muffin tin into a water bath and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Cool and serve: Allow the muffins to cool completely before gently running a knife around the edges to release them. Serve chilled.
Notes
You can also use a flan mold instead of muffin tins for a more traditional flan presentation.
For extra flavor, try adding a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard mixture.
These muffins are best enjoyed the day after they’re made.
