This Easy Butter Chicken is a simple and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken simmered in a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce, spiced with ginger, garlic, and a blend of aromatic spices. Perfectly paired with rice or naan, it’s a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook until the onion is translucent and softened.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, ground turmeric, and ground coriander, allowing the spices to toast for about 1 minute.
  5. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until the chicken is browned on all sides.
  6. Stir in the tomato sauce, bring to a simmer, and let it cook for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes
