Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces dark, milk, or white chocolate (chopped or in chips)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Baileys, Kahlúa, or rum (optional)
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer, but not boil.
- Add the chopped chocolate (or chocolate chips) to the cream and stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.
- Add Flavorings:
- If desired, stir in vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and your choice of liqueur (Baileys, Kahlúa, or rum) for extra flavor. Mix well to combine.
- Serve:
- Transfer the melted chocolate mixture to a fondue pot or a heatproof serving bowl. Keep it warm with a tea light or candle if using a fondue pot.
- Serve with your favorite dippable items like strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, cookies, or pretzels.
Notes
- Make sure to stir the chocolate constantly while melting to prevent it from burning.
- For a smoother consistency, you can add a little more heavy cream if you prefer a thinner fondue.
- If you don’t have a fondue pot, you can also serve this in a bowl and microwave it in 30-second intervals to keep the chocolate melted.
