Ingredients

Scale

For the Greek Turkey Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground turkey (preferably lean)

  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs (regular or gluten-free)

  • 1 large egg

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp ground cumin

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Olive oil for cooking (if pan-frying)

For the Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, full-fat or low-fat)

  • ½ cucumber, grated and drained

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking the meatballs.

  • Prepare the meatball mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well combined.

  • Form meatballs:
Using your hands, shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. You should get about 20-24 meatballs, depending on size.

  • Cook the meatballs:

    • Option 1 – Baking: Place the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

    • Option 2 – Pan-frying: Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the meatballs in batches for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through.

  • Prepare the tzatziki sauce:
In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped dill, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well mixed.

  • Serve:
Serve the meatballs with the tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping or drizzle the sauce over the top. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor: You can add a pinch of ground cinnamon to the meatball mixture for a subtle warming flavor.

  • Tzatziki Tip: Make the tzatziki sauce ahead of time to allow the flavors to meld together.

  • Meatball Cooking Tip: If you prefer your meatballs crispy, pan-fry them, but for a healthier version, baking is a great option.
