This Polish City Chicken recipe brings together tender pieces of chicken breast cooked in a savory blend of chicken broth, dry white wine, and aromatic vegetables. It’s a flavorful dish that’s easy to make and perfect for dinner with the creamy addition of sour cream for a smooth finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  • Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Dredge chicken pieces in the flour mixture.
  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add garlic, onion, and mushrooms. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  • Add chicken broth and dry white wine to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer for another 10-12 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Stir in sour cream, and simmer for an additional 2 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Serve this dish over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles for a complete meal.
