- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the powdered sugar and almond flour.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until fully combined. Add food coloring if desired.
- Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release any air bubbles, then let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the macarons are set.
- Allow the macarons to cool completely before filling and sandwiching together.
