  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter becomes smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
